| Mohawk Web-based TrainingMohawk HR and the Corporate Training division will work together to develop a web-based, module-based training tool that will enable Mohawk to identify exceptional applicants and prepare these applicants for positions within Mohawk. Completion of these pre-hire training modules may be used as both a Public Relations tool, a community service tool, and a hiring characteristic for new hires. This generic job skills course will complement Classroom training (for those with limited connectivity skills) and web-based training. Local schools and local teachers will be included in this effort by offering access to training using school computers. Teachers will teach a generic course on obtaining employment. This course will be accessible online as well, for those who do not require assistance. Schools should be encouraged to promote this training with local media, through materials sent home with students, and other appropriate communication methods. While these have been characterized as "pre-hire" training modules they may not necessarily be a prerequisite to Mohawk employment. The "look and feel" of this training should be a community-service model. While these modules may be targeted for preparing the community to work for Mohawk, they should assist the student in securing employment with indirect employers created by Mohawk Manufacturing facility demand. These training modules may include specific Mohawk training Modules as well. For instance a Mohawk Safety course can be used to community Mohawk safety procedures should an applicant eventually be hired by Mohawk. Other modules can be developed by Mohawk Training as necessary and as deemed appropriate. Applicants that complete all or the majority of these training modules would certainly be identified as "motivated" potential employees. While completion of these modules would not be a prerequisite for hiring they can be used as a community service and as a Public Relation vehicle. These modules would be linked to the applicant profile and online application that each applicant can create. Once this profile is created, the compartmentalized profile should direct the user to suggested modules to prepare for Mohawk employment. The message communicated pertaining to completion of the modules must be carefully reviewed to eliminate the prescreening of employees as a hiring condition. An applicant may use this training on applications (for all potential employers) in the "other training" area on applications, but it should not be used as a condition of hire. |
