Healthcare

Mohawk's concern for it's employees heath and well-being extends beyond the mandatory safety programs initiated at the manufacturing site level.  Our concern involves their family's health and the prevention of disease.

Local and Regional Mohawk HR staff will work with Dr.  Will Getbetter - Chairman of Fictionville Community Hospital Board and physicians on the hospital board to ensure that Mohawk employees have access to local medical facilities and physicians who subscribe to the Mohawk Employee Healthcare plan.

Healthcare remains single, largest expenditure for each employee.  Under direction of the Advisory Committee, Mohawk will establish it's first Mohawk Employee Healthcare Clinic to address routine medical needs.  This in-house clinic will be accessible to Mohawk staff and their families.  This clinic will operate with a staff of Physician Assistants working under the direction of local physicians who provide oversight.

The purpose of this clinic will be to address routine medical needs at a reduced cost to Mohawk, but also to provide Mohawk families with specialized care from a friendly, receptive Mohawk family staff.  This Employee Healthcare Clinic will function as an in-house walk-in clinic for Mohawk families.

Staff Physician Assistants will triage and treat patients and refer clinic visitors to specialists, as needed.  Maintaining this service in-house will significantly reduce the cost of Mohawk Healthcare expenses (using salaried staff) and should enhance the value, reputation and demand of Mohawk employment.

The Committee members also should help develop a competitive bid from local physicians to become service providers for Mohawk families.

As a significant part of any employee healthcare plan, Mohawk families must understand the true costs of an employee healthcare plan to Mohawk.  Many employees believe their employee contribution covers half of their healthcare expenditures.  The Healthcare subgroup (of the Community Advisory) must develop a communication plan to publicize the cost of healthcare for each Mohawk Family.  Revealing these costs to each Mohawk family and detailing the associated costs for each family should increase the value of the healthcare plan and further reduce costs.
