| Education & TrainingA key philosophy of the Community Advisory Committee model is to partner a Mohawk Staff member with a Community representative on the committee to accomplish specific Mohawk and community objectives. For our Community Education and Training objectives Ellen Essentials - Superintendent, Fiction County Schools and Bard Appleaday - President, Fiction State College will partner with Awana Learnalot - Director of Mohawk Corporate Training and her staff to fulfill objectives defined by the Community Advisory Committee and the Mohawk Steering Committee. This effort will function as a community-based program utilizing strong Mohawk support and guidance. While this plan does specifically address the increased need for educators created by increased population pressures, this working committee will attempt to address all community needs as they relate to education. This group will be a community group that utilizes all community assets to plan for future needs. The first objective that this work group should accomplish is to teach community members how to complete applications, resume writing skills, where to find posting for Mohawk jobs, and how to assemble an organized job search. We have learned through Fictionville community surveys that many residents are limited from applying for various jobs because of fear and not understanding the job placement process. Many residents have limited understanding of how to properly complete a job application and do not understand the various avenues or resources of finding employment. This community-based program will prepare individuals, not only for Mohawk jobs, but other jobs that will be generated as a result of the Mohawk expansion. This program also should engage in training courses for lift truck operators, facility and mechanical repair technicians, truck drivers and transportation, distribution, packaging and printing operations and numerous other skill sets required by the Mohawk expansion. The cumulative effect of this training effort will produce qualified Mohawk employees, but it also emphasizes the broad community impact that the Mohawk expansion will create. Training functions both as a community communication and publication relations vehicle. |
