Mohawk Communications Advisory Committee

The Communications Advisory Committee will serve a vital function in promoting and directing Mohawk's local Fictionville community efforts for it's new manufacturing facility.  The Advisory Committee will be responsible for identifying areas of need and fine tuning the message communicated to each target audience.  Each Advisory committee member will target a specific target audience and establish the targeted message for this group.

The creation of the committee and composition (members) of the committee will serve as a public relations vehicle and will serve as a conduit for two-way communication with the Fictionville community.  The committee should accomplish all objectives as set forth by the Mohawk Steering Committee and should establish their own unique set of objectives.

Managed properly, the Advisory Committee should act as a positive, objective, coordinated community voice for Mohawk.  The Advisory Committee will help refine the local message and advise Mohawk of the need for suggested refinement of the Communicated message.

The Advisory Committee will include both Mohawk staff and community leaders.  The Mohawk Steering Committee will provide direction for the Steering Committee.  Transparency and community involvement are the best public relations and advertising tools that can be employed.  Engagement by these community segments will focus each segments attention on Mohawk and the positive impact the new Mohawk facility will have on Fictionville.

The Advisory Group includes key members of various Fictionville institutions.  The Committee is intended to provide direction and assist Mohawk in communicating to the Fictionville Community.  Each member serves a specific function.  Each community leader will work with a Mohawk Staff member to communicate Mohawk needs and to decipher community needs.

For example,

  • Mohawk training staff will work with local education to develop special courses for employee developmental needs.

  • Mohawk will become the largest user of medical services, so Mohawk benefits staff will work with local healthcare to coordinate services, negotiate healthcare service for Mohawk staff, and establish administrative procedures.

  • Mohawk will become the largest Fictionville employer and Mohawk employees will become the largest consumer of housing in the Fictionville market.  HR will work with the local RealtorŪ Association to ensure that suitable housing is available to Mohawk Fictionville employees.  This component will work with local builders and local real estate professionals to identify housing needs and provide an assessment of future needs.

  • Police and Fire officials will ensure proper documentation of the 911 system.  GPS locations for new housing and new business created to support Mohawk must be updated.  These segments will work with the Mohawk Safety and Manufacturing to ensure all security, safety, and emergency response systems are valid and up-to-date.

  • Mohawk Marketing will work with the Fictionville Chamber of Commerce and local Restaurant associations to ensure the community is aware of the positive impact that the new plant will have on local retail, business and daily food concession needs.  Work must begin in advance to begin communicating the impact that demand created by the new facility will have on these businesses.

  • Mohawk Manufacturing  also must communicate energy needs of the facility and ensure that the Mayor and Board of Commissioners has contacted local facilities.  The new Mohawk Facility and the influx in employees can place a significant strain on local water, electricity, sanitation, and sewage services.

  • Mohawk intends to have a significant impact on the quality of life of the citizens of Fictionville.  Every employer that enters the community becomes a citizen of this community and must engage the community by helping satisfy community benevolent needs.  The honor to serve the community is a primary responsibility of each corporate entity.  Both our Plant HR Manager and Taylor Dogood, Plant Manager will work with local charities as prioritized by this committee.

Each of these issues, and many others, will stimulate and heighten community awareness of the Mohawk Communications plan.  Managed properly by Mohawk staff, the Advisory Committee itself could become the most successful communication tool that Mohawk utilizes in this detailed communication plan.
